Independent Kingston area MPP Randy Hillier has scored a legal victory for Independent political figures across Ontario.
According to Global News, Hillier won a legal challenge this week that provides more leeway for independent candidates and their fundraising.
The changes to the Election Finances Act include letting independents form constituency associations, keep their election surpluses and getting independent constituency associations the same quarterly allowance as political party associations.
However, these new benefits only apply to independent candidates who are elected.
