Some good Samaritans helped save an elderly woman from a robbery attempt Friday morning.
At approximately 9:30 a.m., Belleville police were flagged down by people who said they saw a woman dragging an older woman into an alley.
Police say the elderly woman was followed on Front Street when the younger woman tried to steal her purse. The victim held on to the purse and her yelling drew the attention of nearby people.
The suspect fled but was found on Pinnacle Street.
Thirty-year-old Angie Nolan of Belleville was charged with failing to comply with an undertaking, robbery and assault.
Nolan had a bail hearing and was remanded into custody.
The older woman suffered minor injuries.
