Tweed council will decide whether to apply for a team in the Eastern Ontario Super Hockey League at their next meeting on April 27.
Council was presented with a staff report about the 11-team league for those 20 years of age and up at Wednesday’s meeting.
Mitch Gagne of the EOSHL, which is not affiliated with the Ontario Hockey Association, approached Tweed to guage the municipality’s interest in getting into the hockey business.
Gagne estimates it would cost about $25,000 a year to operate.
Manager of Community Development, Parks and Recreation, Rachelle Hardesty says if council decides to move forward an application will be forwarded to the EOSHL.
The league will vote on the application in early May.
