The Federal Government has announced a pair of programs to help Canada’s chicken, turkey and egg farmers, including close to 2,000 of them here in Ontario.
The Poultry and Egg ON-Farm Investment Program will provide up to $220 million to Ontario farmers over 10 years to modernize their operations, become more competitive in the market, or adapt to changing consumer preferences.
That could include things like upgrading equipment, or building a new barn, with the Federal Government contributing up to 70% of the project cost.
Meanwhile, the Market Development Program for Turkey and Chicken will provide $36.5 million to turkey farmers and $25 million to chicken farmers, to increase domestic consumption through various promotions to help Canadian producers stand out.
