Belleville councillors will again begin the process of filling a vacant council seat on Monday.
Council will have to decide how it will fill the seat left vacant by Ryan Williams, who resigned earlier this month, to focus on his run for an MP seat for the Conservative Party of Canada.
That can be done either by an appointment, or a by-election and must happen with 60 days of the seat being declared vacant.
If council follows the trend of appointing the “next in line” from the last election, then Carol Feeney would take that seat.
It’s the second time recently that Belleville has had a vacant seat, following the passing of Pat Culhane last year, with Tyler Allsopp being appointed to her seat, following a lengthy appointment process.
