A partial burn ban has been put in place in Prince Edward County.
That means any open air burning is restricted to a container with a screened top or a small campfire, with Prince Edward County Fire and Rescue reminding residents that a burn permit is required as well.
Residents can apply for an annual burn permit by visiting Fire Station 1 at 8 McDonald Drive in Picton, at Shire Hall at 332 Picton Main Street or by applying online.
Burn permits cost $20 and expire at the end of the calendar year.
The fire department will continue to monitor the ground conditions and update the ban as needed.
