Belleville council will decide on who will do the preliminary design for a new fairgrounds and commercial/industrial property between highways 401 and 37.
At Monday’s council meeting, staff are recommending that council approve the proposal from the Greer Galloway Group to begin designing the new fairgrounds at Black Diamond Road and Highway 37.
There were three bids and Greer’s was the lowest at $392,142.77
The city purchased the 60-acre property last fall and half of it will be used by the Belleville Agricultural Society as a fairgrounds.
The Belleville Agricultural Society will be relocating to the newly purchased land from its current location at Sidney Street and Bridge Street West.
If approved it’s hoped construction can begin in spring of 2022 and be finished in time to launch the first Quinte Exhibition at the new location on Labour Day weekend.
