Quinte West OPP have laid additional charges and upgraded ones previously laid against three people in connection with a shoplifting incident in Trenton last month.
Police arrested three people and recovered approximately $2200 in stolen merchandise in connection with the incident at a 2nd Dug Hill Road business on February 20.
A search warrant was executed on a motor vehicle at the scene where police recovered an additional $5000 worth of suspected stolen property.
Further investigation revealed that the accused allegedly committed additional thefts on February 5, 19 and 20 at businesses in Cobourg, Trenton and Bowmanville, stealing another $21,000 worth of merchandise.
One person from Brampton, another from St. Catharines and a third from Mississauga each face multiple charges.
Shahbaz SINGH, 26 years old of Brampton, Simarjit GARCHA, 30 years old of St Catherines, and Harendra SINGH of Mississauga have been charged with:
- Theft over $5000 – two counts
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 – two counts
Harendra SINGH also faces charges for:
- Obstruct peace officer
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000; and
- Fail to comply with release order – other than to attend court – two counts
