Prince Edward County Committee of the Whole will discuss the tourism management plan for  Wellington beach, Wellington boat launch and bulk water station at its meeting Thursday.
Staff are recommending that a charge of $10 be put in place for visitors to the Wellington beach as part of the Tourism Management Plan.
Beach access would be free for residents.
Staff are also recommending that the Wellington boat launch operate on limited hours on weekends and statutory holidays making the ramp unavailable from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to promote safe use of the beach and manage traffic entering the beach during heavy times of use. The recommended permanent closure of the Belleville Street launch is also included in the report to improve traffic management.
With regards to the bulk water hauling station, staff are recommending that it be moved temporarily to the Wellington and District Community Centre to promote safe use of the beach and to limit excessive noise. This move would cost $15,000.
According to the report, the estimated budget for these changes is $76,000 which would come from the Municipal Accommodation Tax.
Committee of the whole meets Thursday at 1 p.m.
