OPP say a mechanical issue led to a police cruiser being destroyed by fire on Monday night.
It happened in a parking lot on County Road 30 and Telephone Road in Brighton, just before 6:00 p.m., with both officers in the cruiser being able to get out of the car safely before it went up in flames.
Brighton firefighters were able to extinguish the fire, which lead to a brief road closure on County Road 30, but the road was opened again by 7:30 p.m.
