As most everyone is aware there’s been lots of construction activity recently in the Quinte region as builders can’t keep up with the demand for homes and prices have been rising.
A recent report from Statistics Canada confirms this.
In January of last year building permits were issued with a value of $15.5 million in what’s known as the Belleville Census Metropolitan Area.
But in January of this year permits issued were valued at $21.1 million an almost 50% increase.
The increase followed the national trend where the value of permits increased 8.2% in January.
Most of the increase in value comes from the construction of new single family homes.
The Belleville Census Metropolitan Area includes Belleville, Quinte West, Stirling-Rawdon, and Tyendinaga.
