In the early afternoon on Thursday, March 4, 2021, officers with the Durham Regional Police Service located a man sought by the Cobourg Police Service on the strength of an outstanding arrest warrant.
As a result of a subsequent investigation, 31-year-old Thomas WYBENGA of Courtice, was arrested and charged with the following:
- Fail to Attend for Printing
- Fail to Attend Court After Having Appeared
- Causing A Disturbance x 2
- Resist Arrest Contrary to Section
- Assault Police Officer
- Being Intoxicated in a Public Place
WYBENGA was released from police custody with a future court date.
Later that afternoon, officers on patrol in downtown Cobourg observed a man currently sought by the Cobourg Police Service on the strength of an outstanding arrest warrant.
As a result, 34-year-old Justin BEST, of Cobourg, was arrested and charged with the following:
1. Fail to Attend Court
2. Mischief Under $5000
3. Theft Under $5,000
4. Escape Lawful Custody
BEST was released from police custody with a future court date.
