Representatives of the Quinte Humane Society are seeking a large loan from the City of Quinte West as they work towards a sorely needed new facility.
At Monday’s Quinte West council meeting Marilyn Lawrie, Executive Director for QHS, will make a deputation to council asking for a $1 million loan to assist with the interim financing of the new QHS building.
The Humane Society has been pushing for the new facility, set to be built on Wallbridge-Loyalist Road, even reducing the plans in order to make it happen sooner due to the very poor condition of the current building.
If granted, the loan from the city of Quinte West will be set to be repaid by end of year in 2026.
QHS is making the same funding request of Belleville city council.
