The Belleville Police responded to 49 calls for service between 5 a.m. on February 24, 2021 and 5 a.m. on February 25, 2021.
Short Police Pursuit
On February 25, 2021 at 2:17 a.m., police were on general patrol in the area of North Front St. and Tracey St. when a silver Dodge Avenger was observed travellling at a high rate of speed. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle however it continued at a high rate of speed through a red light at the intersection of North Front St. and Bell Blvd. Police pursued the vehicle north on Hwy 62 until the fleeing vehicle’s speed reached over 120 km/hr. Police discontinued the pursuit for safety reasons and the vehicle was last seen northbound at Hwy #2 at Vermilyea Rd.
Motor Vehicle Collision
On February 24, 2021 at 10:22 a.m., a motor vehicle was stopped at a red light, facing east at the intersection of Bell Blvd and North Front St. A city bus approached the stopped vehicle and contacted the rear bumper of the vehicle. There were no injuries sustained in the collision and there were no passengers on the bus at the time of the accident. No charges were laid in the minor accident.
