The Ontario Government announced further details about the vaccine roll out for residents.
Thursday on the Lorne Brooker Show, Solicitor General Sylvia Jones discussed more about COVID-19.
She says Ontario was never allowed to go to vaccine manufacturers, they were only dealing with federal governments.
“They are distributing it to the provinces and the territories on a per capita basis. Ontario sits around 38 percent of the Canadian population, so when the feds get a tranche of vaccines, Ontario gets 38 percent of it.”
Jones says the 34 public health units will get them from there.
She says so far high risk nursing and retirement homes have been vaccinated to this point.
“The next tranche, we will be going back to those homes and vaccinating the staff, as well as essential care givers in long term care and retirement homes. I think the most exciting news for many of us is now as the inventory increases, we are expanding to the over 80 age group.”
