Local vaccinations to protect against COVID-19 are picking up again.
Hastings Prince Edward Public Health is scheduled to receive 3,510 doses of the Pfizer vaccine this week.
Medical Officer of Health Dr. Piotr Oglaza says vaccinations will continue according to the priority list set by the Ministry of Health.
“They will go to second doses to long term care residents, first doses to long term care staff and essential care givers so theses are the groups that were in the most immediate priority setting. And then they will also be allocated towards very high risk health care providers.”
Oglaza says they hope to be able to begin vaccinations for the wider public, starting with those over the age of 80, sometime in March.
As of Tuesday, HPE Public Health reports 1,946 vaccines have been administered locally.
