A tentative collective agreement has been reached between the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board and the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation District 29 Hastings-Prince Edward.
The school board issued a statement Monday.
The deal affects approximately 325 permanent and 140 occasional secondary school teachers.
The three-year agreement would be retroactive from September 1, 2019 and run through August 31, 2022.
No other details will be released until it is voted on by teachers and the Board of Trustees in March.
“Reaching a tentative collective agreement with our OSSTF partners is welcome news for everyone involved. The negotiating teams were committed to the process and we are grateful for their work. Our secondary school teachers are doing remarkable work in their in-person and virtual classrooms during what has become another unusual school year. Thank you to everyone for helping our students of today to become the caring and contributing citizens of tomorrow.” – Lucille Kyle, Chair of the Board
“Congratulations to the local OSSTF bargaining representatives and leadership, as well as to the representatives for HPEDSB. I am very pleased and proud that they have reached this tentative agreement, especially during these incredibly challenging times. I also want to acknowledge the tremendous efforts of our secondary school teachers who are important role models for students.” – Sean Monteith, Director of Education
