Eight local festival and events hurt by the COVID-19 pandemic are receiving a funding boost through the province’s Reconnect Festival and Event Program.
Through the program, the Ontario government is investing more than $7 million in an additional 87 local and virtual events and initiatives.
Minister of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries, Lisa MacLeod announced the latest round of funding Friday.
In total, the Reconnect program is supporting more than 100 events and initiatives.
The funding will support the festival and event sector during COVID-19 while helping municipalities and organizations deliver innovative and safe experiences that allow people to reconnect with their communities.
