A Belleville man faces several serious charges including impaired driving, dangerous driving, assault with a weapon, and assaulting police after incidents in the city last night (Thursday).
Shortly before 9 o’clock, police stopped a vehicle on Dundas Street West after spotting it running a red light.
Officers gave the male driver a roadside breath test which was failed. After being advised he was under arrest the man sped away.
The vehicle was located afterward at the suspect’s parents’ home. When police came to the house the suspect became violent, attempting to assault his father with a weapon.
After a short chase the 27-year-old man was arrested. His name was not released.
