A Belleville man has been charged after Northumberland OPP responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in Castleton.
Around 1 a.m. Saturday morning, residents called police about a blue Dodge camper van parked on Percy Street for a lengthy period of time with its horn blaring.
When a couple went outside to check to see what was happening the driver of the van allegedly drove in an aggressive manner toward them.
Police located the vehicle parked on Haynes Road and the investigating officer suspected the driver had been consuming alcohol.
The driver allegedly refused to provide a breath sample and was arrested.
Sixty-three-year-old Raymond Boyle is charged with fail or refuse to provide a breath sample and dangerous operation.
He’s to appear in court April 14.
His licence was also immediately suspended for 90 days and his car towed and impounded.
A message from Northumberland OPP:
“The Northumberland OPP would like to remind the public that failing to provide a suitable sample of breath upon an officer’s demand carries the same consequences as ‘operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs’, and ‘operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)’.
The OPP remains committed to enforcing impaired driving laws and educating road users about the dangers posed by motorists who drive while impaired by alcohol or drugs.”
