According to published reports, the Belleville Senators could start their American Hockey League season this weekend, possibly in Laval.
The AHL has not announced a schedule for the five Canadian Division teams as it awaits a decision from the Ontario government regarding a return to play scenario.
Reports indicate the league would have the Belleville Senators and Toronto Marlies open on the road while the situation in the province gets sorted out.
Ontario is expected to ease lockdown restrictions in parts of the province, including Hastings-Prince Edward as early as Wednesday.
Quebec, Manitoba and Alberta have given the green light to their AHL clubs to begin play.
Also to be determined is whether the B-Sens and Marlies will play on their home rinks or on those of their parent NHL teams.
Belleville will play this season in an all Canadian division with the Marlies (Toronto Maple Leafs, Laval Rocket (Montreal Canadiens), Manitoba Moose (Winnipeg Jets) and Stockton Heat (Calgary Flames).
