Quinte West wants to hear your story
QUINTE WEST, Feb. 1, 2021 – The City of Quinte West wants residents to share their experiences with mental health, addictions and affordable housing.
During this campaign, information gathered will help the City address these priority issues in the municipality’s new Community Safety & Well-Being (CSWB) Plan. Personal anecdotes from individuals and groups will help the CSWB Committee develop strategies to improve the lives of the community’s most vulnerable residents.
“Through consultations with stakeholders and the general public, it is clear that mental health, addictions and affordable housing are the top threats to the overall health of our community. While these challenges are affecting all groups within our population, low-income residents seem to be the most vulnerable to negative impacts,” says Inspector Christina Reive, Detachment Commander for the Quinte West OPP and Chair of the CSWB Committee. “As we begin developing strategies to address these issues we want to hear from individuals who have experienced these challenges first-hand, in order to develop more effective and realistic strategies.”
From Feb. 1 through March 1, low-income residents of all ages can submit their stories in writing, short videos and artwork. Submissions can be uploaded to the “Stories” section on http://quintewest.site/CSWB or sent by email to cswb@quintewest.ca. Residents can also describe their experiences over the phone at 613-392-2841 x4492.
Residents who participate will be entered in a draw to win one of 10 $25 gift cards. The winners will be contacted once the campaign has ended on March 1, 2021.
