A Quinte West resident is facing multiple charges after threatening to burn down the Shopper’s Drug Mart on Sidney Street in Belleville.
Around 10:30 a.m. on Friday, police were called to the store to a report of a man who had committed a store theft-related act.
The man had been escorted out of the store by security, but returned a short time later threatening to burn the store down.
Police arrested 28-year-old David Jeffrey Reid and charged him with uttering threats to destroy property, and operating a motor vehicle while prohibited.
Reid was taken into custody and released shortly after on an undertaking with strict conditions with a first court appearance date set for March 11, 2021 at 9:00 a.m.
