Prince Edward County council will discuss updating its Short Term Accommodations licensing program at a meeting Thursday afternoon.
So far the county has received 1,033 applications to become licensed for short term rentals but not all of the applications or inspections have been completed.
Currently there are 536 legal “whole home” STAs and 261 “owner occupied” STAs, including bed and breakfasts in the county.
So far the program has been responsible for $507,000 in revenue for the county.
Staff is recommending a bylaw and zoning review focusing on Short Term Accommodations and investment in software to help identify those that are operating illegally.
