Liquor arrests
On January 22, 2021 at 6:38 p.m., police were called to the Foxboro Veterinary Hospital on Ashley Street for a report of an intoxicated female. The 37-year-old city woman was located, arrested and charged for being intoxicated in a public place. She was transported to the Belleville Police Service and processed on the charge.
On January 23, 2021 at 1:45 a.m., police were called to the Bridge Street East area for a report of an intoxicated female. The 32-year-old city woman was located, arrested and charged for being intoxicated in a public place. She was transported to the Belleville Police Service and processed on the charge.
Both females in these occurrences were arrested for their own protection as well as for the protection of others in the immediate areas. Both were released from police custody once sober with provincial offences notices.
Theft arrest
On January 22, 2021 at 9:59 a.m., police were called to a north end shopping location for a report of a theft. Police were given a description of the suspect, along with the allegation that he had stolen items of merchandise from within the store. The suspect attempted to elude security, leaving without paying. He was located quickly outside by police. Arrested, and charged with theft under $5,000 was 33-year-old Bruce Franklin Cooney of Belleville. He was transported to the Belleville Police Service and later released on an undertaking to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on February 18, 2021.
Arrest warrants executed
On January 22, 2021 at 11:02 a.m., police patrolling in the east end of the city came across a wanted female. This investigation revealed the female was wanted by city police on charges of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and assault with a weapon. These charges were the result of an earlier investigation which was concluded in November of 2020. Police arrested 25-year-old Katie Ann Skinkle. The city woman was transported to the Belleville Police Service where the warrants were executed. She was released shortly after on an undertaking to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on February 18, 2021.
