As thousands of local students prepare to return to their classrooms on Monday, they are being reminded that there will be some stricter safety measures in place.
Students at both Hastings Prince Edward District School Board and Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School board will be back in class.
Director of Education for the Hastings Prince Edward District School Board Sean Monteith says there are some enhanced protocols for younger students.
” … mandatory or required mask wearing now for students in grade one to three. Students in kindergarten will, of course, not be mandatory but you’re talking about three-year-old and four-year-old children.”
Students will also be asked to wear their masks while outside when unable to maintain physical distancing.
Board staff essential to student well-being will all be in school.
Other staff, like Monteith himself, will continue to work from home.
