Brighton council is working with a developer in the building of a state of the art retirement residence in the municipality.
At its meeting Monday night, council approved hiring a construction consulting firm to provide inspection services during the construction of the Brighton Retirement Living building.
Mayor Brian Ostrander says Brighton’s current building inspectors have their hands full as new home construction is booming.
“The developer has agreed to partner with us on this, paying 50% of the costs, keeping in mind that they’re paying 50% of those direct costs but they’re also paying significant fees in terms of building permit fees which will offset the other portion (municipal) of those costs as well.”
Brighton Retirement Living will be a three-storey 120-room building located along Main Street on the west end of town. It’s hoped construction will begin this spring.
