Theft of converters
On January 14, 2021 at 10:49 am., police were called for a reported theft of catalytic converters from a College Street East business. The investigation revealed that a total of four converters were stolen, sometime within the last month. Thieves target these items because they contain precious metals like platinum, palladium or rhodium, that are valuable to metal dealers. Investigation into the matter is continuing, and police are asking anyone who may have information to please contact investigating officer Cst. Motor vehicle collision leads to charge
On January 14, 2021 at 5:50 p.m., police were called to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Valleyview Crescent and North Front Street. Luckily, no injuries were reported, but damage to both motor vehicles was moderate. Both had to be towed from the location. Police charged a 24-year-old female driver from Picton, Ontario with the offence of Careless Driving. Theft arrest leads to breach charges
On January 14, 2021 at 8:20 p.m., police were called to Cascade Boulevard regarding the theft of a bicycle. The investigation confirmed that one man stole a bicycle belonging to another man. Police quickly located the man responsible at another location on the west side of the city. Police arrested and charged 31-year-old Tyler Egan of Belleville, with one count of theft under $5,000 and five counts of breaching probation. Egan was released on a Form 10 undertaking with strict conditions, and a first court appearance date set for February 18, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice.
