A Downtown Belleville business owner says he plans to open his shop next week and push back against Ontario’s ongoing COVID-19-related protocols.
Park Provisioners Owner Kyle Thomson posted a video to the shop’s social media accounts on Friday afternoon, announcing the plan to open his store next Wednesday, January 20 and is encouraging other retailers locally and across the country, to do the same.
In the video Thomson says, he understands the risk he’ll take by opening, but feels it’s the only way to get his message across.
“People need to acknowledge and understand that these current restrictions and lockdowns and measures that our government has imposed on us, and our media has shamelessly supported, are doing far more damage than COVID ever could. The impact from this is far more damaging and lasting than COVID ever will be and can’t be cured by some miracle vaccine.”
Thomson added while he sympathizes with people who are affected negatively by COVID-19, the pandemic and restrictions are leading to other social and societal issues in our community and elsewhere.
