The chair of a committee recommending a candidate to fill the vacant seat on council, says they have just about completed their work.
Councillor Kelly McCaw spoke to Quinte News about the process of going through applications for the position.
She says candidates were ranked on a number of qualifications, including experience on council or committees, but also points were awarded for being a woman, or visible minority.
McCaw says just north of ten people applied for the seat left vacant after Pat Culhane passed away at the end of 2020
McCaw also stated they kept the names private, after bullying behaviour was made towards some applicants.
It still has not been finalized whether one, two, or three names will be put forward to Mayor Mitch Panciuk, which is expected to happen late Friday or over the weekend.
The names of the applicants will also be revealed in the coming days.
