An Oshawa man was arrested on Highway 401, just east of Grafton, after allegedly stealing an SUV from a car dealership in Ajax yesterday morning.
Investigators say the 2019 Hyundai SUV was left running in the dealership parking lot, while the owner went inside and the suspect jumped in and drove off.
The SUV was spotted near Cobourg and Northumberland OPP used a rolling roadblock to make a safe traffic stop around 10:45 a.m.
Twenty-five-year-old Laprince Samuel Thomas was charged with two counts of breaching an undertaking and one count each of theft of a motor vehicle and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
He was held in custody and was slated to make a bail hearing appearance on Thursday.
