Both the city and the union representing 30 workers employed by Belleville Transit are happy with a recently signed labour contract.
The one year deal between the city and Unifor Local 1839 gives job security to Belleville Transit’s bus drivers and other employees until at least the spring. In return the union did not hold out for any pay increases.
The contract runs from April of last year until the end of March.
Belleville Mayor Mitch Panciuk says the city appreciates the union’s understanding during a tough economic climate while the union said the agreement provided some job security in uncertain times.
