Closed circuit television cameras (CCTVs) may soon be purchased for Prince Edward County OPP.
At Tuesday’s council meeting, council approved a report to either direct police services board to use surplus money to buy CCTV cameras, and if there is none to add it to the 2021 municipal budget.
PEC Clerk Blumenberg confirmed there is a police services board surplus but not the amount needed.
Mayor Steve Ferguson said the OPP have been lobbying for the purchase of CCTV cameras for a long time and that at this time there are no confirmed locations for potential cameras.
