The Belleville Senators will have a better idea of what their roster for the upcoming AHL season will look like today.
NHL teams have to declare their 23-man roster and six-man taxi squad by 5 o’clock this afternoon.
Ottawa put seven players on waivers yesterday including Rudolfs Balcers, J.C. Beaudin, Filip Chlapik and defenceman Christian Jaros. All played for Belleville last season.
The waiver period will pass at noon. If they clear, they can be assigned to Belleville.
While the NHL season begins tomorrow (Wednesday) night, the American Hockey League season won’t begin until February 5. No schedule has been released yet however the B-Sens will play in the Canadian Division with the Laval Rocket, Toronto Marlies and Manitoba Moose.
Over the weekend Belleville signed veteran defenceman Colby Williams to a one-year AHL contract. Williams has played his entire professional career with the Hershey Bears including two seasons under then head coach Troy Mann. Mann is now the head coach of the Belleville Senators.
