Life will hopefully be back to normal soon after a ruptured water line serving the Belleville Dialysis Clinic caused officials to scramble to get local dialysis patients to other clinics for their appointments.
The water line ruptured Tuesday, January 5 causing the clinic to close, and 76 dialysis patients were taken by taxi or other means to clinics in Picton, Napanee, or Kingston.
According to the Kingston Health Sciences Centre none of the patients missed their appointments.
After repairs, the Belleville clinic is expected to open again this Thursday.
Meanwhile, spokesperson for OurTMH, Sharon Urquhart says that had a dialysis clinic been located at Trenton Memorial Hospital, solving the problem could have been much less complicated, costly, and much more comfortable for local patients.
OurTMH has been lobbying the province for a clinic at TMH for over two years, citing a growing demand for dialysis in the area.
Urquhart also says the pandemic will muddy the waters more for dialysis patients as those who contract COVID-19 will be forced to go to hospital in Kingston or elsewhere as dialysis is not offered in any local hospital.
