Belleville Police have arrested and charged a 34-year-old man with robbery, assault causing bodily harm and solicitation of sexual services following a violent incident on North Front Street early Saturday morning.
Police were called to a residential complex on North Front Street around 2 a.m. regarding a robbery and assault. Upon arrival police met with a woman who received a serious injury to her hand after the suspect attempted to steal her purse while in her home.
EMS transported the woman to Belleville General and located the suspect nearby. After a short search the man was taken into custody.
The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court later today (Saturday), for a show cause hearing.
The name of the accused is not being released to protect the victim’s identity.
