Some much needed infrastructure work in the village of Stirling is on the docket for 2021.
Mayor of Stirling-Rawdon Bob Mullin says upgrades at the George Street pumping station, and stormwater repairs on Mill Street will end with the removal of sewer lines installed in 1957 and water lines put in in 1937 and that will allow future development in the village.
Also, Mullin says it’s time Stirling-Rawdon dropped the rural versus urban ward system and council will make a decision on that sometime in 2021.
“When you’re sitting at that table you have one budget, one staff, and you should have one approach. You know you’re making a decision that’s based on needs not on where you live and not on who you represent.”
Stirling-Rawdon has a population of approximately 5,000 people, with around 60% of them living in the rural area.
