Belleville council could make a temporary decision on increases to development charges at its meeting Monday.
City staff is recommending development charges, paid by developers to pay the costs of new water, sewer, road, fire, and other infrastructure, be increased by just 10 percent for one year.
It had been proposed that development charges for a new urban house go up by over 100 percent to over $27,000 from $13,000.
That idea caused an outcry from developers.
The matter will be considered by council again after new information becomes available in coming months.
