The Belleville Police Service responded to 53 calls for service from January 7, 2021 at 5 a.m. to January 8, 2021 at 5 a.m.
Breach Court Orders / Possession of Stolen Property
On January 7, 2021 at 8:50 p.m., Belleville police attended the area of Ritchie Street and Catherine Street in response to some people acting suspiciously near a school. Officers caught up to a couple of individuals, an adult female and male. The investigation revealed that the male had an outstanding warrant out of the city of Ottawa with charges already before the court. The male was arrested on this outstanding warrant. The male accused was found to be in possession of stolen property and was breaching two conditions of a court release order.
The 37-year-old Belleville man was charge with the following new charges;
- Fail to Comply with a Court Order
- Fail to Comply with a 2nd Court Order
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to attend a Show Cause Hearing on January 8, 2021 to answer to his charges.
Warrants
On January 7, 2021 at 9:10 p.m., a city officer was in the area of Bridge Street East and Ann Street when he observed a male known to him to be on outstanding Belleville warrants with charges already before the court. The officer stopped the male and confirmed his identification. The male was arrested on the authority of the warrants and transported to the Belleville Police Service.
The accused, 38-year-old Daryl Verner of Belleville was charged with two counts of Breaching Conditions of an Undertaking. The accused was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Belleville court on February 4, 2021 to answer to his charges.
