Quinte West Mayor Jim Harrison is looking forward to the new year, but knows COVID-19 will remain a front burner issue.
He says residents need to stay the course in the new year by continuing to follow public health protocols such as wearing a mask, washing your hands frequently, staying two metres apart and staying home if not feeling well.
“You know if you follow the policies, it shows you can do it and you can keep this to a very low number. {We’ve got} to continue to follow that policy, the policies, because we don’t want this to erupt again at any time.”
The city has a number of capital projects on the books for the year ahead including water main replacement in the city, work on King Street, some new fleet vehicles and continuing to promote their supporting local businesses campaign.
