The Belleville Police Service responded to 48 calls from January 5, 2021 at 5 a.m. to January 6, 2021 at 5 a.m.
Switching shoes leads to arrest
On January 5, 2021 at 1:33 p.m., police were called to a shopping centre in the north end of the city regarding a female stealing footwear. An investigation revealed the female was switching shoes while inside the store, leaving her old ones behind at the location, and walking away with new ones. Police arrested the female on site. City woman Kimberley Anne Archer, 55 years of age, has been charged with theft under $5,000. Archer was released from custody on an appearance notice to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on January 21.
Woman arrested for breaching bail
On January 5, 2021 at 1:21 p.m., a police officer patrolling the Bridge Street West area came across a female, known to police to be on strict release conditions. One of her conditions was not to be away from her residence, at any time, unless she was under the direct and continuous presence of her surety. The 33-year-old woman was arrested without incident, and transported to the Belleville Police Service where she is being held pending a bail hearing set for January 6 at the Ontario Court of Justice.
Arrested on warrants
On January 5, 2021 at 10:20 p.m., city police were notified of an arrest by the Ontario Provincial Police in the city of Quinte West. A man brought the attention of the OPP upon himself. Further investigation revealed the man to be wanted by Belleville police on arrest warrants for two charges of failing to comply with probation orders. City police retrieved him from the OPP and transported him to Belleville. Nathan Alexander Gosse, a 21-year-old Belleville man was arrested and processed on the outstanding arrest warrants. He was later released from custody on a form 10 release with conditions, and a court appearance set for the Ontario Court of Justice on February 4.
