Bay of Quinte MPP Todd Smith says as we move into 2021, the Ontario Government has picked the perfect candidate to lead the province’s COVID-19 vaccine roll out.
Smith praised retired General Rick Hillier in a recent interview with Quinte News and says while there is some reliance on the Federal Government to acquire the vaccines, Hillier and his team have a firm plan in place to get those doses out to the people of Ontario.
” With the vaccines rolling out now to front line health care workers and then eventually to those in long term care, and then hopefully early in 2021 being made available to the general public to get vaccinated, we’re starting to see a little bit of optimism and hope that we can put COVID-19 behind us.”
He added that along with rolling out Ontario’s COVID-19 vaccine program, there’s a lot more to look forward to in 2021. Smith says he’ll continue to push the province to commit more cash to many local infrastructure projects.
“Things are happening continuously on the health care front. We want to see that next commitment where the Picton hospital moves on and we get the shovels in the ground as quickly as possible and so many other infrastructure projects, when it comes to roads and bridges.”
Smith says especially in Prince Edward County there is plenty of need for road improvements, along with finishing the major road reconstruction project in downtown Trenton and others in Belleville as well.
