Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit is investigating an incident involving Quinte West OPP officers
yesterday (Sunday).
Police responded to a residence on McMaster Road, just west of Trenton, at 1 o’clock in the afternoon after reports someone had been threatening people there.
A male suspect had left the scene before officers arrived but was located quickly. During the arrest the suspect sustained a non-life threatening injury but was taken to hospital for treatment.
A 27-year-old man from Belleville was charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.
Due to the injury the SIU has begun an investigation into the officers’ actions.
