The manager of the Quinte West Chamber of Commerce says 2021 will be a year that will include COVID-19, but hopefully a year of growth as well.
Suzanne Andrews talked to Quinte News about the year ahead, and says technology will be a focus in the next 12 months.
“It was a catalyst for a lot of small businesses to get more digital. I think that it is something that has been around for the last couple of years. The government has funded this because they knew that we had to encourage small businesses to get more digital to get online, make sure they had websites and the software needed to survive and compete.”
She adds that the mobile and interview coverage in the area is going to soon see even more investment, and that will be good for business.
There is hope that the events that were cancelled last year will be renewed in 2021, because they help chamber members and the community at large.
“For the chamber ourselves, 2020 meant the cancellation of all of our events. We put on events for the community, we have done them because they have helped to support other things that were going on in our community. The cancellation of those and some of our business-focused events was a financial hit to us as well.”
