Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) travelling on County Road 6 at approximately 10:30 p.m. on December 29, 2020.
The driver and passenger were not wearing helmets and the ATV did not have functioning rear lights. Officers located the ATV on a nearby trail after the driver attempted to flee.
The driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol.
Dru Milne (age 29) of Douro-Dummer Township, Ontario was arrested and charged with:
· Operation while impaired-alcohol
· Operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration-80 plus
· Drive off-road vehicle-no number plate
· Drive off-road vehicle-no insurance
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on January 20, 2021.
The Peterborough County OPP reminds motorists to plan ahead when consuming alcohol. Use a designated driver, cab, public transit, or stay overnight. Any amount of alcohol or drugs can impact your ability to make sound judgments.
