The Belleville Police Service responded to 50 calls for service from December 28, 2020 at 5:00 a.m. to December 29, 2020 at 5:00 a.m.
Liquor Licence Act
OnĀ December 28, 2020 at 10:32 p.m., police were called to a west end location for a report of an intoxicated male not paying his taxi fare. On arrival, officers were made aware that the male had been sick in the rear of the taxi as a result of having consumed a large number of alcoholic beverages. The male was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place for his own safety. The 33-year-old Quinte West male was taken back to cells and charged under The Liquor Licence Act. He was later released into the care of a family member.
On December 29, 2020, at approximately 3:12 a.m., police were called to a west end location for a report of male passed out in the rear of a vehicle behind a business. Officers approached the vehicle and observed that several alcoholic beverages that had been consumed were littered throughout the vehicle. Officers spoke to the male and quickly realized that he was heavily intoxicated. A 26-year-old Oshawa man was arrested for his own safety, as well as the safety of the public, for being intoxicated in a public place . He was later released on a Part I offence notice once deemed able to care for himself.
Warrants
On December 29, 2020, at approximately 3:00 a.m., police encountered a vehicle near Bay Bridge Road and Dundas Street West Officers pulled it over for highway traffic act related offences. Further inquiries into the driver revealed that he had a warrant out for his arrest for failing to appear for prints. Officers arrested 33-year-old Belleville man, Paul Dawson, under the power of the warrant. He was released shortly thereafter on a promise to appear with a court date for January 21, 2021 to answer to the charge.
