A man caught using counterfeit money in Cobourg has been charged.
Police were called Wednesday evening at approximately 5 p.m. for reports of a man attempting to use counterfeit money at businesses in the north end of Cobourg.
Police quickly found the man and after investigating further they arrested and charged 27-year-old Mate Ricsak of Toronto with:
- Possession of Counterfeit Money (three counts)
- Uttering Counterfeit Money (three counts)
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
- Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance
Ricsak was held in custody pending a bail hearing on December 24.
Police also recommend local businesses check their cash registers or floats for counterfeit money and to contact Cobourg Police if they suspect they may have any.
