Despite the difficulties posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Quinte area residents and car dealers came through big time for the United Way Hastings-Prince Edward.
The 2020 Cars for Community Campaign surpassed expectations, raising $24,290 for the United Way.
Twenty-one local car dealerships took part in the campaign and each made a donation to the campaign for each vehicle they sold.
United Way Campaign Chair Inspector Sheri Meeks of the Belleville Police Service called it “a remarkable, collaborative effort for the betterment of our community”.
The overall campaign goal for the year is $1.71 million and so far the campaign is lagging a little behind last year’s pace but donations will be accepted until January 31.
