The Hastings Prince Edward Medical Officer of Health Doctor Piotr Oglaza joined the Lorne Brooker Show this Wednesday, to discuss the roll out of the COVID-19 vaccines.
“I do not have a date when that is going to happen, but we already are working with our partners on planning how to distribute that and planning the immunization program for the COVID-19 vaccine.”
He says the fact that we are in a Yellow Zone means we will be later in getting vaccines.
“Part of the reason is that if we control the COVID-19 activity in the hot spots, we are also protecting other areas. We will commence an immunization program, starting with a phased approach as announced by the Ontario Government. The phase one will see hot spots receiving it first.”
Oglaza adds that the Pfizer vaccine is expected to be coming to Hastings Prince Edward.
The Moderna vaccine, which was just approved Wednesday morning, will roll out locally at a later date.
