Transition housing for women is being proposed for property near the Frink Conservation Area in Belleville’s Thurlow ward.
Faith-based organization New Life Women’s Home will ask for zoning changes for 20 hectares of land at 543 Thrasher Road.
If approved, a small portion of the mostly wooded property would have four stand-alone dormitories, one activity building, a workshop, a barn, and a chapel. A house and a log cabin already exist on the land.
New Life Women’s Home would offer women over 18 years of age programs to deal with depression, addictions, and other life-controlling problems in a residential setting.
Belleville’s Planning Advisory Committee will accept public input on the application at its meeting January 4.
